Kathy Griffin is a self-proclaimed "D-list" celebrity, reality show star and stand-up comedian whose act is largely based on making fun of celebrities and her own interactions with them.
Griffin's began performing in the early 1980s with LA-based improv troupe The Groundlings. She became a regular on LA's alternative comedy scene, doing stand-up with Un-Cabaret and in her solo shows. Her solo gigs led to a 1998 HBO special. Simultaneously, Griffin was appearing in small parts in films and television shows, culminating with a regular role in the NBC sitcom Suddenly Susan.
