My Beautiful Mommy is a children's book that helps to explain plastic surgery to children. The book is written by Michael Sauzhauer who is a board certified plastic surgeon operating in Bal Harbour, Florida.
Sauzhauer wrote the book when he realized that many mothers came to him for surgery consultations with their children. However, there was a lack of information to provide the children to help them understand what happens during plastic surgery. The book targets an audience with the age group four through seven and discusses a mother who gets a tummy tuck, a nose job and breast implants. Although the text itself does not mention breast implants, the illustrations show an obvious change in the appearance of mommy's breasts. President of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons has given the book a 'B' grade.
Sauzhauer said "There's a good percentage of your readers who are dead set against plastic surgery, who see it as a sign of the decadence of Western civilization. But when done by a properly trained board-certified plastic surgeon, it really does help make lives better."
