  • Career Overview

In 2001, Paul Meany and Darren King, who had worked together in the Christian band Earthsuit, started collaborating from their homes in New Orleans and Springfield, Missouri, respectively. The two would trade demos back and forth, and played a few shows together as "MATH."

After recruiting guitarist Greg Hill and producer Tedd T to work on the project, the burgeoning group changed its name to Mute Math and created their own record label, Teleprompt Records.

In 2004, they released the Reset EP and started building a following by touring the Western United States. The EP went out of print in 2006.

The band signed with Warner Bros. Records, but were upset by the major label's decision to market them exclusively to a Christian rock audience. After months of legal disputes, the label eventually released the band's self-titled debut to a general audience in September of 2006.
