Former Arizona University Wildcat Mustafa Shakur has taken a highly unusual route to the NBA. After playing for the Wildcats from 2002 through 2007, he went undrafted and found himself eventually in a Sacramento Kings summer league. Shakur spent the next two years in Europe before returning to the NBA D League and suiting up for the Tulsa 66ers. On March 17th, 2010, Shakur was finally called up to the ranks of the Oklahoma City Thunder, who released another 2009-2010 D League standout, Antoine Anderson, to make room on the team for Shakur.http://nba.fanhouse.com/2010/03/17/thunder-call-up-mustafa-shakur-from-d-league/<ref>

Shakur played in a pair of 2009-2010 pre-season NBA games for the Minnesota Timberwolves. On October 4th, he scored five points in a game against the Milwaukee Bucks and later went scoreless during an October 14th contest versus the Chicago Bulls.http://www.nba.com/dleague/playerfile/index.jsp?player=mustafa_shakur<ref><ref>http://www.nba.com/playerfile/mustafa_shakur/index.html<ref>
