Music Criticism
Since the 18th century, when the English composer Charles Avison wrote an essay criticizing the work of fellow musician George Frideric Handel, people have been printing their opinions about music. While some music critics are musicians themselves, or have accredited degrees in musicology, many are simply dedicated fans who have educated themselves. In the Information Age, the ubiquity of social networks and blogs finally makes the phrase "everyone's a critic" a truism.
