Muse

  • Muse is an award-winning rock band from Devon, England consisting of Matt Bellamy (guitar/vocals), Chris Wolstenholme (bass), and Dominic Howard (drums). The three members met as schoolmates when they were teenagers and began seriously pursuing a musical career in lieu of higher education.
  • Career

After releasing two EPs independently, they signed to Maverick Records and recorded their debut full-length album, Showbiz, with producer John Leckie (who had produced the Radiohead album The Bends).

They recorded their second album, Origin of Symmetry, but the label was worried that Bellamy's high, operatic vocals wouldn't go over well in the United States; after a conflict between the band and the label, Muse left Maverick and signed with Warner Bros. Records. With their third studio album, Absolution, Muse began their mainstream breakthrough behind singles like "Hysteria," "Stockholm Syndrome," and "Time Is Running Out."

Muse finally hit their stride with American fans when they released 2006's Black Holes & Revelations, yielding such hit singles as "Starlight" and "Knights of Cydonia."
