  • Murder, She Wrote was a long running crime-drama which starred Angela Lansbury as a mystery writer and amateur detective. The series followed her character, Jessica Fletcher, through her adventures in the fictional town of Cabot Cove, Maine. Wherever Jessica goes, whether she's writing in Cabot Cove, visiting a relative in Texas, or staying in her New York City apartment, mystery, intrigue and murder seem to follow. Often, a friend or loved one is suspected of murder, which motivates Jessica to get to the bottom of the truth. Sometimes she steps on the toes of the local law enforcement, but more often they are honored--and grateful--to have the help of the best-selling novelist.
  • Jessica Fletcher Bio

Jessica Fletcher was a small town English teacher who upon retirement started to write mystery books under the name "J.B. Fletcher". She lives in Cabot Cove, Maine, but also travels quite a bit. Jessica's husband Frank died and she never really dates or remarries. She has quite a bit of extended family, but she is closest to her nephew Grady, who has a habit of getting into trouble. In her adventures, Jessica is backed up by her friend, Doctor Seth Hazlitt, Cabot Cove's GP, and the local sheriff, first Sheriff Amos Tupper, then Sheriff Mort Metzger. Jessica doesn't drive, loves to garden, and has an insatiable curiosity.
