  • Munich, known for its architecture and culture, is home to the Oktoberfest beer festival. The third largest city in Germany, Munich has established itself as an internationally important economic center as it is home to many internal companies. It had to recover substantially from both World Wars in the first half the 20th century. During World War II it suffered greatly from bombing raids.

  • Oktoberfest

    The first Oktoberfest occurred in 1810, to celebrate the marriage of Crown Prince Ludwig and Princess Therese of Saxe-Hildburghausen. Six million people attend every year. Special beer is brewed for the festival. Food is an important part of Oktoberfest; Attendees eat special to the region white sausages called Weisswurst, beer, and pretzels. These are served with sweet mustard.
