Fossil Hunters in North Dakota discovered the preserved remains of a 67-million-year old duck-billed hadrosaur in 1999. The remains were found by an amateur archaeologist named Tyler Lyson, who was a teenager at the time. The specimen was only the fifth mummified dinosaur discovered by archaeologists.
The fossil, known now as Dakota, is being painstakingly removed from the sandstone in which it is confined. The full, preserved form of the dinosaur is estimated to emerge sometime in 2009.BBC: Amazing find of dinosaur 'mummy' (December 3, 2007) guardian.co.uk: Faster than T rex - the dinosaur 'mummy' that had to run for its life (December 3, 2007)
