Muhsin Yazicioglu

Muhsin Yazicioglu was the head of the far right Grand Unity Party (BBP) of Turkey. He was killed in a helicopter crash in a remote mountainous area in eastern Turkey; the wreck was discovered two days later on March 27, 2009.Reuters: Turk party leader's body found in helicopter wreck (March 27, 2009)

Helicopter Crash

Yazicioglu was flying back from a campaign rally when his rented helicopter crashed in the mountains of eastern Turkey. A cell phone call was made from the wreck by reporter Ismail Gunes after the crash. It took two days for authorities to reach the crash; all six of the people in the helicopter, including Gunes, died at the site.CNN: Bodies found at Turkish helicopter crash site (March 27, 2009)

The helicopter was smashed on a mountain top in Kahramanmaras province, between the towns of Sisne and Elmali. Debris was spread over an area of some 50-60 meters. Bodies inside the wreckage were frozen and barely recognizable.
