Mr. Deeds Goes To Town is a 1936 film directed by Frank Capra, written by Robert Riskin and based on a story by Clarence Buddington Kelland. The movie stars Gary Cooper, Jean Arthur, George Bancroft and Lionel Stander. It was nominated for five Oscars, of which it won one, for Best Director. The film tells the story of small town tuba player Longfellow Deeds, who inherits a fortune, and tries his luck in the big city.

Plot Synopsis
Longfellow Deeds (Gary Cooper) lives in a small town, where he plays the tuba in the local band. Then, one day, he inherits a large sum of money, and decides to move to the big city. The city looms with many traps and goons, and many try to take advantage of the new rich man. None succeed, until Babe Bennett (Jean Arthur) finds a way, by playing on his eagerness to help out others. As a true knight in shining armor, he tries to help her out, allowing her to get close to him. But, what he doesn't know is that Bennett is a reporter, out to get a scoop. -
