Media mogul and Blake Media founder Preston Blake dies climbing Mount Everest and the search begins to find the heir for the Blake fortune. Genealogy proves that Deeds is the sole heir to the $40 billion Blake Media. Deeds is flown to New York City in hopes to convince him to sell the company, but he decides to to remain in control. Along the way he meets and falls in love with Babe Bennett, played by Winona Ryder.
