MP3 Player

An MPEG-1 Audio Layer 3 player is an audio listening device for digitally recorded music and other audio files. These are also referred to as digital audio players. Most MP3 Players use a flash drive card that is installed into the device with audio files that the user has downloaded onto the card, either directly from purchased content or via an internet download. The card helps store the files on the player.

The iPod Revolution

Initially MP3 players were the same size as compact disc players, and could only MP3 files. In 2001, Apple introduced the iPod, containing 5GB of hard drive space while being smaller and lighter than traditional portable music players. The ability for users to purchase content on the iTunes store and download them directly onto iPods made them a must-have item.
