Mouse

There are over 1,100 rodent species identified as mice, but the "true" mouse is the Old World mouse, belonging to the family Muridae, and typified by the common house mouse and field mouse. They are about 6 inches long fully grown (including tail), with short fur and disproportionately large, round ears. Their reputation as pests is due in part to their ability to carry human diseases, but also their tendency to proliferate quickly, and their omnivorous nature, eating everything from candy to grain. Mice also tend to "sample" foods, nibbling small amounts, but potentially contaminating large amounts in the process.
