Mount Redoubt is a volcano located about 100 miles southwest of Anchorage, Alaska. The volcano was on high alert during parts of January, February and March of 2009.
On March 26, a major eruption sent ashes 65,000 feet high up in the air and the Alaska Volcano Observatory (AVO) issued a warning for razor-sharp volcanic ash.msnbc: Redoubt Erupts (March 26, 2009) AVO had issued an alert level level of "orange/watch." The 2009 eruption has resulted in the cancellation of several flights.
