Mossimo is an American clothing line for men and women, established in 1987 by designer Mossimo Giannulli. Target began distributing Mossimo collections in the year 2000 and now carry his design in Target stores across the United States. Mossimo has becomes one of the largest global apparel brands in the US. There are international group licenses for Australia, Japan, Mexico and South America.
Giannulli began his fashion career creating clothes that expressed the southern California beach influences in his life. His small clothing company was soon to grow into a multi-million dollar business. Mossimo now specializes in youth, teenage, and adult male style, with fun T-shirts and casual active-wear. His current collections reflect street, urban and sports trends.

Born and raised amid the casual beach lifestyle of southern California, Gianulli came up with an idea to capitalize on that lifestyle. In 1987, during his early twenties, he borrowed money from his father to start a small beach lifestyle company, based in a garage in Newport Beach, California. He marketed only to surf shops and his company turned over $1 million in its first year.
With further expansion into sweats and knits and later into women's clothing and men's suits, over an eight year period, Mossimo Inc. grew into a multi-million dollar business. Mossimo himself was reported, at the time, to be the youngest ever CEO of a New York Stock Exchange company.
The company continued successfully until Mossimo decided that they needed a more solid infrastructure to maintain their growth.
