Mortal Kombat 3

Mortal Kombat 3 is the third fighting game in the Mortal Kombat Series created by Ed Boon and John Tobias. It was first released in arcades and later home versions were produced. The game featured many new characters as well as technical features. Due to bad reactions from longtime fans of the series, Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 and eventually Mortal Kombat Trilogy were released so that all popular characters from previous games were included.

Two significant features were added to enhance gameplay.

• A "Run" button was added as a way to respond to critics that believed the previous versions of "Mortal Kombat" were too slow and was tailored toward extremely defensive behaviors. Players pressed the Run button while tilting forward, and the player would run toward the opponent. A meter drained whenever the run began, and it would fill back up when the run stopped. For the most part, a player could run from one end to another.
• Players could perform chain-link combos. If a player stood very close to their opponent, the player could press a certain button sequence very fast to perform a combo. In the past games in the "Mortal Kombat" series, players could only perform a combo by getting a player in the air and performing several moves to create a juggling combo. Each character in Mortal Kombat 3 had several chain-link combos. Many of the combos resulted in the opponent getting into the air, allowing the player to inflict more damage.
