Mormon Chastity Belt

  • Guide Note:

Good information on Mormon chastity belts is not easy to find. The belts were mentioned in the news on August 8, 2008, after media reports about the rape of Mormon preacher Kirk Anderson re-entered the headlines.

Mormons do wear a certain kind of underwear but - for most it seems - nothing as drastic as a chastity belt. The garments are ceremonial and must be worn by priests at all times.

  • Mormon Underwear Facts:

    1. White: symbolizes purity (and respect for God's purity) and a Christ-like approach to life's mission
    2. Comfortable, lightweight fabric

  • The Mormon Sex Slave Case

A woman called Joyce McKinney made news England in the late 1970s after Kirk Anderson accused her and Keith May of sedating him with chloroform, taking him to a remote cottage, tying him to a bed and then forcing him to have sex with her.

According to reports, Anderson was wearing a Mormon Chastity Belt at the time of the attack. The device did not prevent the rape from occurring.

In August 2008, it was reported that Bernann McKinney, a woman who claimed to have had her dog cloned in South Korea was actually Joyce McKinney.
