Men on a Mission is a 2008 calendar of twelve former Mormon missionaries posing shirtless. The calendar has been criticized by members of the Mormon community who claim that it shows a lack of modesty. The creator of the calendar, Chad Hardy, was excommunicated on July 13, 2008 from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The Salt Lake Tribune: Excommunicated: LDS Church Boots Creator of "Men on a Mission" Calendar (July 14, 2008)
Intention of the Calendar
According to Chad Hardy, the calendar was a project to step outside stereotypes rather than tear down the church. The calendar which was discussed on the internet and in magazines has received mixed reactions from the rest of the Mormon community. A 2009 calendar is set to be released in September 2008.Quotes
