• Academy Award-winning actor Morgan Freeman was injured in a car accident on Mississippi's Highway 32. Freeman, who had been driving, was airlifted to a Memphis, Tennessee, hospital after the wreck. He suffered a broken arm and elbow, and sustained a shoulder injury, but was discharged from the hospital 3 days later, on August 7.

  Memphis resident Demaris Meyer was Freeman's passenger. She is suffering from permanent disability as a result of the accident, according to her lawsuit. She is also suing for medical expenses, pain and suffering, lost wages and property damage.
