Life and Career
Morgan Freeman did not start out acting professionally from an early age. Though he was involved with theater as a child, he only began acting as a career much later on. This resulted in him getting his big break in Driving Miss Daisy at the age of 52.The 90s proved to be a break out decade for Freeman who then starred in a number of widely acclaimed and commercially successful films. In 1994, he took on the role of Ellis Boyd "Red" Redding in The Shawshank Redemption opposite Tim Robbins. The movie was a huge success, and it also established Freeman as a talented narrator.
His most recent blockbuster appearance is in Christopher Nolan's Batman Begins and The Dark Knight as Lucius Fox.
Car Accident
On August 4, 2008, TMZ.com reported that Freeman was injured in a serious car accident in Mississippi. He underwent surgery to repair damaged nerves in his left arm and hand. After a three-day hospital stay, Freeman was released from Memphis' Regional Medical Center on August 7, 2008.
