On September 25, 2007, several sources are reporting that the Surry County district attorney in Virginia is reportedly scheduled to present evidence to a grand jury seeking local indictments against for Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick for his involvement in a local dogfighting ring. Because his negotiated plea agreement to federal charges did not include any immunity from local charges, the local DA (in what many are calling an unprecendented move) is seeking to file charges of animal cruelty, which could expose Vick to as many as 40 years in prison.
