Monty Python and the Holy Grail

  • Monty Python and the Holy Grail is a 1975 film written and performed by British comedy troupe Monty Python. The film satirizes King Arthur's quest to find the Holy Grail and stars Graham Chapman as Arthur, John Cleese as Sir Lancelot, Eric Idle as Sir Robin, Michael Palin as Sir Galahad, and Terry Jones as Sir Bedevere. Each Python member also plays additional roles in the film, and Terry Gilliam provides his signature animations.

The Holy Grail, which was the first Monty Python movie that wasn't compiled from sketches from Monty Python's Flying Circus, has remained a cult favorite through the years. The film was adapted in 2005 into the Broadway musical Spamalot.
