Country music duo Montgomery-Gentry started out as a trio called Early Tymz. Members included, brothers John Michael Montgomery, Eddie Montgomery and Troy Gentry.http://montgomerygentry.musiccitynetworks.com/index.htm?id=14788&sid=1438 When John left to pursue a solo career, Eddie and Troy formed the group Montgomery Gentry.
In 1999, their album “Tattoos and Scars” announced them as a new force in country music. In 2000 the duo was named CMA’s duo of the year. That same year, they received an American Music Award for favorite new Country artist, the Academy of Country Music Award for Top New Vocal Group or Duo and the 2000 and 2001 Radio and Records Readers Poll Award for Top Country Duo.
Montgomery-Gentry were also part of the Rolling Stone 40th Anniversary issue. They are also a part of the Farm Aid and Country in the Rockies and they joined up with Maya Angelou after the release of their album “Some People Change.”

In 2001 they reached #2 on the country music charts with their single “She Couldn’t Change Me” from the album “Carrying On.” In 2002 they released the album, “My Town” and racked up three more top five hits including “My Town”, “Speed” and “Hell Yeah.”
In 2004 they got their first #1 hit with “If You Ever Stop Loving Me” from their album “Do Your Thing.” “Do Your Thing” also included the #1 hit “Something to be Proud of” and “Gone.”
