The Monterey Pop Festival was a three-day concert that was held during the Summer of Love of 1967 in Monterey, California. The festival was organized by John Phillips of The Mamas & the Papas, publicist Derek Taylor, and producer Alan Pariser. The careers of Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin were jump-started by their performances at Monterey.
