  • Montenegro is a country in southeastern Europe. It was formerly apart of Yugoslavia. After the dissolution of Yogoslavia, it became part of the union of Serbia and Montenegro from which it declared its independence on June 3, 2006.

    Montenegro declared its independence on June 3, 2006, making it the worlds newest nation. The country's name is literally translated to "black mountain" because of the surrounding mountains in the region. Most Montenegrins voted to secede from Serbia. The country has been a tourist destination with its many beaches, and will continue to develop that industry.
