  • Alvin Burke, Jr. is a professional wrestler known by his ring name Montel Vontavious Porter or MVP for short. He currently wrestles for World Wrestling Entertainment under their SmackDown brand.

    Before Burke started a career as a wrestler, he served 9½ years of an 18½ year prison sentence for armed robbery and kidnapping. He made his WWE television debut in 2006 as the self-absorbed athlete character Montel Vontavious Porter (MVP). His first feud was with Kane, leading to an Inferno match, which Kane won. MVP then feuded with Chris Benoit over the United Stated Championship. MVP won the title in 2007 by beating Benoit at Backlash. MVP's next major feud was with Matt Hardy. The two originally started off as enemies, but were forced to team together, winning the Tag Team Titles. After they eventually lost the belts, they began feuding again. Hardy beat MVP at Backlash in 2008 to win the United Stated Title. MVP held the title for 343 days, the third longest in the history of the championship.
