Monster

Monster is a 2003 dramatic film by Patty Jenkins, which starred Charlize Theron, Christina Ricci and Bruce Dern. The film is based on the true story of a serial killer named Aileen Wuornos, who was a prostitute in Florida that murdered her clients.

Monster follows Aileen (played by Charlize Theron) down through a destructive spiral which begins when she is raped by one her johns and winds up killing him in self defense, and ends with her being sentenced to death. The movie also focuses on her complicated relationship with another woman named Selby (played by Christina Ricci who ultimately winds up testifying against Aileen during her trial.

Charlize Theron won a Best Actress Oscar for her performance as Aileen Wuornos.
