How the Monster Mash was Born
When Bobby Pickett was younger, he loved classic horror films. Pickett actually did what some say was a great impression of horror film icon Boris Karloff, an imitation he used on stage during performances. When a band member suggested Pickett write a novelty song about monsters, the seed was planted. Eventually, Pickett was approached by music producer Gary Paxton about recording "Monster Mash." The Monster Mash Music Video
This video features "The Monster Mash" as performed by Dr. Demento. As the song plays, actors portray scenes reminiscent of "old school" horror movies. Eeerie creatures, including Frankenstein, mummies and werewolves abound. Eventually, they gather around a "mad" scientist and attack.
