  • The job seeking website Monster.com has been hit with a database theft. On January 23, 2009 the website reported that user IDs and passwords were stolen including names, e-mail addresses, birth dates, gender, ethnicity and more. As of January 24, no misuse of the information had been reported. Monster.com has not yet released an email to its users to make them aware of the problem.     Every member of Monster.com has been asked to changed their password immediately. Monster.com warns that phishing emails may be sent due to the breech, but to only access Monster.com by visiting the main website, not by clicking any link in your email.Monster.com: Official Notice (January 23, 2009)
  • 2007 Attacks

    Monster.com reported that hackers used compromised employer log-on credentials to access its database of user resumes. The company is reported to have shut down a rogue database housing stolen data. In other incidents that happened in 2007, one time Monster.com was breached and installed a trojan on visitors to the website.
