Mo'Nique is an American comedian and Academy Award winning actress who starred with Gabourey Sidibe in the Precious. a movie based on the novel Push opened in theaters and Mo`Nique played the mother of an overweight pregnant teenager trying to survive on the streets of Harlem in the 1980s, who was invited to join an alternative school.http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0929632/ She also played Nikki Parker on the UPN sitcom The Parkers (1999-2004).

Monique won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress at the 2010 Academy Awards on March 7, 2010. In her acceptance speech she thanked Tyler Perry, Oprah Winfrey, the BET family and her husband for showing her how to forgo doing what's popular and to do whats right. She ended her speech with God bless us all.
