Monica

Monica is the youngest R&B recording artist to have two consecutive chart-topping hits on the Billboard Hot R&B;/Hip-Hop Songs chart. She released her debut album, Miss Thang, in 1995. Her popularity began to slide during the 2000s, due to several reasons. In 2003, Monica released After the Storm. Her popularity turned around once more and she once again returned to the forefront of R&B; music. She is currently working on a new studio album titled Lessons Learned, which is slated to be released in August, 2008, although, no official confirmation has been made. Monica was born as Monica Denise Arnold on October 24, 1980 in Oak Park, Georgia. As a young child, she entered many singing competitions as well as participated in her church choir. Record producer, Dallas Austin, discovered this young talent after seeing her do well in competitions.
