  • Career

Monica Seles holds the record for the greatest number of Grand Slam wins as a teen with eight wins. She officially announced her WTA retirement in February of 2008. Monica made national headlines after being stabbed on court in Germany in 1993, by Günter Parche, a mentally ill fan of Steffi Graf. Monica had defeated Steffi at the Australian Open that year and he was avenging that loss. She briefly appeared on Dancing with the Stars Season 6 with partner Jonathan Roberts. She stated that she lost early because she was at a disadvantage due to a lack of acting experience, and the show is about being a dancer and an actress.

"Tennis fans are the most loyal fans. I played my last match five years ago and they still treat me like I just played yesterday. They're amazing. I hope they enjoyed my performances (in Dancing with the Stars. I know I could have done better, but this isn't my home court. This was totally foreign ground to me."
