  • Monica is the first R&B singer ever to become the youngest recording act to have two consecutive chart-topping hits on the Billboard Hot R&B;/Hip-Hop Songs chart. She released her debut album, Miss Thang, in 1995. Her popularity began to slide during the 2000s, due to several reasons. In 2003, Monica released After the Storm. Her popularity turned around once more and she once again returned to the forefront of R&B; music. She is currently working on a new studio album titled Lessons Learned, which is slated to be released in August, 2008, although, no official confirmation has been made. However, Monica herself reported that the album's production and release is being tracked by her new reality show.

    Her top number one hit songs include "Don't Take It Personal (Just One of Dem Days)," "Before You Walk out of My Life / Like This and Like That," "The Boy is Mine," "The First Night," "Angel of Mine" and "So Gone."

    In addition to being a singer, Monica also acts and has appeared in Boys and Girls, ATL, Living Single, Beverly Hills 90210, New York Undercover, Love Song, Felicity and American Dreams.
