Daniel Defoe's Moll Flanders is the story of a young woman in 17th century England. The novel's full title is The Fortunes and Misfortunes of the Famous Moll Flanders.

Plot Synopsis
The story follows the story of the title character, Moll Flanders, a woman who is born in early America to a convict and raised by an adopted mother. As a young woman, she begins as a servant and winds up having an affair with both of the family's sons. After the eldest son refuses to marry her, she weds the younger one who dies not long into the marriage. Moll develops a talent for conning men and spends the rest of her life fooling wealthy men into thinking she is a rich widow and marrying her. She spends the next twenty years of her life in this fashion, with every relationship ending in tragedy for her male partner. In her older years, after her beauty has passed, she resorts to theft and finds herself in prison with a former love. The two escape their sentence by repenting and spend their final years together. -
