Mojave Desert

The Mojave Desert, often referred to as the High Desert, is an arid region located in southeastern California and portions of Arizona, Utah and Nevada. The Mojave Desert was named after the Native American Mojave tribe. The desert spans over 22,000 square miles. The Mojave desert is dry and arid and sprinkled with Joshua trees. The desert boundaries include Tehachapi and the San Gabriel and San Bernardino mountains. The mountain ranges are distinct, outlining the two largest Earthquake faults in California, the San Andreas Fault and the Garlock Fault

The Mojave Desert is home to 1,750 and 2,000 species of plants supporting the species with less the ten inches of rainfall per year.
