  • Who is Modest Mussorgsky?

    Modest Mussorgsky was a Russian composer from the Romantic Period who composed piano pieces, songs, and operas. He was a member of a group called The Five who were five Russian composers that had a goal to create a school for Russian music.

    Two of his most memorable works include his first composition from 1852, Podpraporshchik, and his most famous opera from 1874, Boris Godunov. He died before he could finish writing his last opera, Khovanshchina, which was first performed in 1886.
