About Miuccia Prada
Educated in political science and a member of the Communist party, Miuccia Prada was the granddaughter and heir of the Prada label. With her husband, Patrizio Bertelli, the two took over the business and changed the way the company has influenced the fashion scene. With fashion forward designs and the hip, more affordable Miu Miu, Prada has maintained a middle ground between old-world Italian luxury with bohemian themes. -

Prada is a famous Italian fashion label that began as a leather goods store in 1913 by Mario Prada. After it's takeover in 1978 by Miuccia Prada, the line became known for using unknown models to walk their runway fashion. With it's growing success, Prada attempted to take over Fendi in 1990, but hit financial troubles and lost the deal. In 2007 the company joined forces with LG cell phones to create a designer phone retailing at $800. Along with fashion and cell phones, the company has an extensive line of handbags, shoes, and fragrances. -
