  • Mitch Mitchell was the drummer for the Jimi Hendrix Experience from 1966 to 1969. Mitchell was found dead in a Portland, Oregon, hotel room on November 12, 2008.   • Mitchell's Career

    Mitchell played with the Jimi Hendrix Experience on the band's most famous songs, including "Voodoo Child" and "Purple Haze," and appeared onstage at the Woodstock Music Festival in 1969. After Jimi Hendrix's death from a drug overdose in September of 1970, Mitchell continued to play drums. According to Eddie Kramer's book Hendrix: Setting the Record Straight, Mitchell became a paid employee of the band in 1970 and was given limited rights to future profits from the band.
