Misty Croslin, former stepmother and babysitter of missing Satsuma, Florida 6-year old Haleigh Cummings, pled no contest to drug trafficking charges in August 2010. Croslin was jailed on the charges related to the sale of prescription narcotics on January 20, 2010. The charges could result in 240 years in prison but lawyers anticipate using a youthful offender category in attempts to having the sentence changed to a maximum of six years. However, Misty Croslin faces other drug charges in a second case and cannot use youthful offender under two cases. Croslin, the alleged ring leader of the trafficking operation, is being held on $1,350,000 bond. On February 19, 2010, Putnam County investigators released additional video recordings of Croslin and Ron Cummings during the drug sting. During the course of the tapes, Croslin outlines the plan for the exchange of drugs and Cummings expresses concern that people will link him to his daughter's disappearance should they find out about his involvement in drug trafficking. Five-year-old Haleigh Cummings was reported missing in the early morning hours of February 10, 2009. Within hours, authorities launched an extensive search for the child. On the following day, police said they believed Cummings had been kidnapped. After her arrest for drug charges, Misty Croslin and her brother Tommy Croslin provided investigators with a version of events which claim another Croslin family member, a cousin named Joe Overstreet, strangled Hayleigh and she and Ronald Junior were hiding under the covers.
