In honor of what would have been Fred Rogers' 80th birthday, March 20 has been declared Sweater Day. Mister Rogers was known for the cardigan sweaters that he donned at the beginning of each episode. Over the course of the series, he went through 24 different sweaters. Sweater Day began as part of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania's 250th birthday celebration, but the concept is spreading, due to David Newell's YouTube. David Newell potrayed Mr. McFeely on the show, and is now the public relations director for Family Communications,Inc. of Pittsburgh, which is promoting the event.
