• The Mississippi State University football team plays college football in the Western Division of the Southeastern Conference. The play their home games on campus at Davis Wade Stadium in Starkville. The stadium is considered the second oldest in Division I-A football. The Bulldogs have played in 13 bowl games in school history, the most recent coming at the end of the 2007 season.

• Bulldog Legends

  Among the great players in Mississippi State history include Eric Brown, Kent Hull, Floyd Womack, Kevin Dockery, Johnnie Cooks, Reggie Kelly, D.D. Lewis and Eric Moulds.

• Sly and the Family Croom

  The Bulldogs enjoyed a run of success over a 13-year period under the direction of head coach Jackie Sherrill. They played in six bowl games and won the West Division title of the SEC in 1998. But Sherrill retired following three losing seasons in which he won just three games and the program was put on probation by the NCAA. The team hired Sylvester Croom as the first African-American head coach in league history.
