The Miss USA Pageant is a televised beauty contest. Winners not only receive a crown, salary and scholarship, they also move on to compete in the Miss Universe Pageant. The winner of the 2009 pageant was Kristen Dalton, Miss North Carolina, and the runner up was Carrie Prejean, Miss California.
