"...Mirror's Edge is an extraordinary and special game. It's beautiful and stylish like nothing else on PS3, and skews the over-worked mechanic of first person shooting into a new, daring and - when it clicks - brilliant direction." — CVGCVG: Mirror's Edge Review (November 7, 2008)

Mirror’s Edge is a classic example of some awesome ideas that just didn’t pan out the way that was originally intended. The list of moves could be more expansive -- maybe by adding a fourth button to the mix -- and the world feels entirely too constricting for what could be a huge open city. Couple those gripes with some unappealing combat and a sometimes buggy design and Mirror’s Edge falls short of my expectations. The ideas are there for a very cool experience, and I truly hope that a sequel is spawned, but this first attempt falls just a bit short. -Nate Ahearn, IGN

  • Gameplay

In Mirror's Edge, the female protagonist, Faith, is a courier who uses rooftops and parkour to navigate from one location to the next. She uses air-conditioning vents, scaffolding and anything else handy to move as quickly and efficiently as possible. Of course, law enforcement and the occupants of some of the buildings she passes through are not her greatest fans. Faith must dodge bullets and sometimes scuffle face-to-face with her pursuers.

Once Faith gets going, she moves at pretty high velocity and her peripheral vision blurs. The goal is to keep up this pace as long as possible, using color-coded items in the game world as clues to help Faith along. It seems only fitting that there is a Time Trial Mode in the game to test players' skills.CVG: Mirror's Edge Review (November 7, 2008) TeamXbox: Mirror's Edge Hands-On Preview (October 31, 2008)
