  • A mirror is an object with a surface that reflects an image. It is used in several ways, with the most popular being a piece of equipment for grooming and for providing navigation or providing vision to hard to see angles. The mirror is also used as a fashionable piece of furniture, and as an expression of art.
  • Superstition

Popular superstition dictates that the breaking of a mirror will bring seven years of bad luck. The origin of such folklore is debatable, but the most logical explanation is that the construction of a mirror is structurally demanding, and in the past a mirror was costly. The legend was probably created to discourage the inappropriate care, or the cavalier handling of such a delicate accessory. Popular folklore also dictates that a vampire is unable to appear in a mirror.
