    Vavrinec and Federer, both natives of Switzerland, met in 2000 at the Sydney Summer Olympics. They soon began a romantic relationship and when Vavrinec's career ended because of a foot injury, she began managing Federer's career. It was announced in March of 2009 that the couple are expecting their first child. The baby is due in the summer of 2009. Federer stated via his website, "Mirka is pregnant and we are so happy to be starting a family together. This is a dream come true for us."
