  • Miro is a free open source video platform created by the Participatory Culture Foundation. The 1.0 version allowed users to stream video and podcasts straight to their desktop once they are posted online.

    The 2.0 version of the platform was released in February of 2009 and expanded on the original version of the product. According to the technology news site TechCrunch, the new, updated version of the platform featured a much more powerful player.Tech Crunch: Miro Gets A Makeover (February 10, 2009) Tech Crunch went on further to hail the newer version's speed and redesign. The 2.0 version of Miro is compatible with BitTorrent, YouTube and Hulu.

    The Participatory Culture Foundation is a non-profit group.
