Minnie Riperton

Minnie Riperton was an American R&B and soul singer made famous by her number one charrted hit song, "Lovin' You," in 1974. Her vocal register spanned five octaves, including the ability to imitate birds and instruments. Riperton was the first black woman to be a spokesperson for the American Cancer Society. She died of breast cancer at the age of 31.
