History
The Timberwolves were founded as an expansion team in 1989 along with the Orlando Magic. The team struggled for several seasons until drafting Kevin Garnett in 1995. Soon after, Garnett and Tom Gugliotta led the Timberwolves to their first playoff appearance. The team's best showing came in 2004 when they made it all the way to the Western Conference Finals. Garnett won the regular season MVP award with 24.2 points, 13.9 rebounds and 5.0 assists per game. Despite being the team to beat in the West, the Timberwolves lost to the Los Angeles Lakers in Western Finals.
Soon after the 2003-04 season, the team began to slide and key players were traded away. Kevin Garnett soon became frustrated with the direction of the team. He was traded to the Boston Celtics in July 2007. The Timberwolves are currently in a state of rebuilding.
Last years record of 15-67 is a clear indicator of how badly this team is rebuilding. Ever since they decided to deal Kevin Garnett to Boston, the teams fortunes have dwindled.
