Minnesota State University, Mankato is a public institution of higher education with 160 undergraduate and more than 80 graduate programs.Official Site: Fast Facts Its hockey teams compete in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association, while the remainder of its athletic teams are part of the North Central Conference. Their campus is home to the NFL's Minnesota Vikings training camp.

University History
The school was originally opened in 1868 as the Mankato State Normal School. The name was changed in 1921 to Mankato State Teachers College, awarding degrees to grade school teachers in two and three year programs. Three additional name changes occurred, first in 1957 to Mankato State College, then in 1975 to Mankato State University and finally in 1998 to Minnesota State University. The school now has six main academic colleges, in health, arts, business, education, science and social science.-
